Dear Ms. Janice Phillips,
I am __________, a resident of Springlake, Woodland. I'm writing to request direct bus services from Davis to Springlake community.
As you may know, the Springlake community was developed in 2006-2008. It has been more than 5 years since then. We estimate that about 1000 households, 3000 residents live in this community. But no basic bus services have been provided for residents of this large population yet (only until recently Route 209 to County Fair Mall was established, and that route was not very helpful for most of the residents). A great part of the Springlake residents commute to Davis everyday for work or attending schools. We have had to drive to Davis every workday. It's thus our sincere hope that the transportation department and committee in charge would help bring bus services to connect Springlake and Davis at your earliest convenience. Additionally, bus services for Springlake people to go to Sacramento (including the airport) is not available either, and we hope this would also be considered.
Providing necessary bus services to connect SpringLake and Davis would bring at least the following benefits, not only for residents of Springlake, but also for the development and economy of Woodland:
1) Attracting more people from Davis to live in Springlake, an area planned for further developments. To ourknowledge, many people working in Davis want to buy a house in Springlake, but the unavailability of public transportation services prohibited them from moving.
2) Increasing the market value of real estates in Springlake and east Woodland (and then the city will have more real estate taxes).
3) Bringing many more costumers (especially UCD students who don't drive) to the Costco/Best Buy shopping mall in Woodland.
4) Greatly reducing car driving between Woodland and Davis and thus being conducive to environmental protection and resources saving
5) And, of course, bringing great convenience for many people who commute often between Springlage and Davis.
We checked the current bus route system (http://www.yolobus.com/routes/index.php), and believe with some minor changes of the routes of 42A/42B, 242, and 45 by including Sprinlake as a stop, and taking Country RD 102, instead of Freeway 113 to Davis, then the problem will be solved to great degree and a big difference will be made for Springlake residents.
